Ingrown Toenail-Onychocryptosis

Lets start with “What is an ingrown toenail”.

An ingrown toe happens when the side of the nail grows into the skin causing discomfort ,pain and sometimes infection.

Some say the pain level of an ingrown toenail from 1 to 10 is a 15. Even maybe a 20 if it breaks through the skin.

If the nail does break the soft skin it can result in inflamation, redness and pus.

Those that expeirience an ingrown toenail offten have a recurring problem with them.
The list of reasons can go on and on:

 

  • Shoes that don’t fit right.
  • Playing a sport that requires sudden stop and go actions.
  • Picking or bitting your nails to short.
  • Cutting the nail to short.
  • Cutting the side of the nail and NOT straight across.
  • Diabetes or Bunions

==>Known as onychocryptosis, an ingrown toenail is a common thing.
